DETAILS
RETINA PACKAGE (WIDE FIELD COLOR FUNDUS PHOTOS, OCT MACULA, FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY)
The Retina Package is a comprehensive diagnostic service that evaluates the retina and macula using three advanced imaging tests in one coordinated session. It combines wide field color fundus photography, OCT macula scanning, and fluorescein angiography. As a result, your ophthalmologist can assess retinal structure, circulation, and disease activity with greater accuracy and depth.
WHAT THIS PACKAGE INCLUDES
This bundled service captures both structural and vascular retinal information. First, wide field color fundus photos document the retina over a large viewing area. Next, OCT macula imaging provides high-resolution cross-sectional scans of the central retina. Then, fluorescein angiography evaluates retinal blood flow and leakage patterns. Therefore, the package delivers complementary data that supports precise diagnosis and treatment planning.
COMMON CLINICAL USES
Doctors recommend this retina package when detailed evaluation is needed rather than a single test. For example, it supports diagnosis, baseline documentation, and follow-up comparisons.
1. Diabetic retinopathy and macular edema assessment
2. Age-related macular degeneration evaluation
3. Retinal vascular disease investigation
4. Unexplained vision loss or distortion
5. Central serous chorioretinopathy workup
6. Treatment monitoring for retinal disorders
HOW THE TESTS ARE PERFORMED
These tests are done in sequence during one visit. First, pupils are usually dilated to improve image quality. Wide field photos and OCT scans are non-contact and take only minutes. Afterward, fluorescein dye is injected through a small vein in the arm, and a rapid photo sequence is captured as the dye circulates. Consequently, both anatomy and blood vessel behavior are recorded.
PATIENT EXPERIENCE AND SAFETY
Wide field photography and OCT are quick and comfortable. Fluorescein angiography may cause a brief warm sensation or metallic taste after injection. In addition, the skin or urine may appear yellow for several hours. Most patients tolerate the procedure well. However, mild nausea or rare allergic reactions can occur, so medical staff monitor you during the test.
WHY A COMBINED RETINA WORKUP MATTERS
Retinal diseases often affect both tissue structure and blood vessels. A single test may miss key details. By combining three modalities, this package improves detection and staging. Therefore, your doctor can recommend more targeted and timely treatment. Early and accurate assessment supports better visual outcomes.
