Indocyanine Green Angiography
Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG) is a diagnostic procedure that uses ICG dye to examine the blood flow in the choroid.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
OCT is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina.
OCT images the retina’s distinctive layers and their thickness. It provides treatment guidance for glaucoma and diseases of the retina.
This package is for both eyes.

Indocyanine Green Angiography + OCT Macula
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Indocyanine Green Angiography plus OCT Macula is a combined advanced retinal imaging service used to evaluate the deeper circulation of the eye and the detailed structure of the macula, which is responsible for central vision. This diagnostic package helps your ophthalmologist detect, confirm, and monitor diseases affecting the retina and choroid with high precision.
It combines two complementary technologies performed in one visit to provide both vascular and structural information.
WHAT THIS SERVICE INCLUDES
1. Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG Angiography) — a dye-based imaging test that highlights the deeper blood vessels beneath the retina.
2. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) of the Macula — a noninvasive scan that produces high-resolution cross-section images of the macula.
HOW IT WORKS
For Indocyanine Green Angiography, a small amount of medical dye is injected into a vein in your arm. The dye travels through the blood vessels of the eye. A special camera then takes a rapid sequence of photographs to show blood flow in the deeper choroidal circulation.
For OCT Macula, you place your chin on a support while a scanning device uses light waves to create detailed layer-by-layer images of the macula. No injection or contact with the eye is required for the OCT portion.
COMMON REASONS FOR REQUEST
This combined study is commonly recommended for patients with suspected or known:
– Macular degeneration
– Central serous chorioretinopathy
– Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy
– Choroidal neovascularization
– Unexplained central vision loss
– Complex retinal or choroidal disease requiring deeper vascular assessment
KEY BENEFITS
1. Provides both deep vascular and microstructural retinal information.
2. Improves diagnostic accuracy in macular and choroidal disease.
3. Supports earlier detection of hidden or occult lesions.
4. Helps guide treatment decisions and monitor response to therapy.
WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE
The OCT scan is quick and painless. During ICG angiography, you may feel a brief needle prick in the arm. Temporary skin or urine discoloration can occur after the dye injection. Most patients tolerate the test well. Imaging typically takes several minutes.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Indocyanine green dye has a strong safety record when used appropriately. However, as with any injected dye, allergic reactions can occur, though they are uncommon. Inform your doctor if you have a history of dye allergy, iodine sensitivity, liver disease, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
RESULTS AND FOLLOW-UP
Your ophthalmologist will interpret the images together with your clinical findings. Results are used to confirm diagnosis, plan treatment, and set follow-up intervals. Additional testing or targeted therapy may be recommended depending on the findings.
